About the project
We are dreamers and creators of a better world
After living for a few years in a contemporary yurt made in France, Cyril realizes the lack of a Catalan business proposal that could meet the demand that was emerging in our territory. As a result of this need, Cyril, Magí (as a fabric craftsman) and Isaac (as a carpenter) decided to team up to create a first prototype, the first idea for our current product.
Mongolian yurt has been imported into the world for decades, and has been around for over 4,000 years. In Catalonia there are different companies that are dedicated to this, but at Yurta.cat we manufacture them from scratch, changing the dimensions and materials, adapting them to the western needs and to the different climates of the territory.
We are currently experiencing access to housing. In the urban space we find many vacant homes that are rented or sold at exorbitant prices. However, the rural world is short of empty spaces, aggravated by the urban exodus of recent years. The desire to live integrated with nature continues to increase globally and we are increasingly the ones who need to change our model and pace of life.
Passionate about our arts and creators of realities
Cyril, a Frenchman by birth, a Garrotxian by adoption. Love took him to this land where he planted a tree, had a daughter, and one day, when he retired, on a Greek island, he wrote a book. After traveling the world, he saw it clearly. He had to settle somewhere and build a #yurt with his hands. A light, semi-nomadic house that would allow him to have a base camp, not pay rent, and walk his path to autonomy.
So his yurt, where he still lives with his family, was his first adventure in this world. A self-construction project done entirely by him, his brother, his partner and his friends. From the platform, the wooden structure, the sewing of the fabrics to the whole installation of water and light inside.
El Magí weaved dreams that could not fit in a flat ... from there he left the city and embarked on a path of self-discovery in nature with the 4 elements as guides and inspiration. Once he found his headquarters, a farmhouse, and his tool, a sewing machine, he began to sew and build tipis, inipis and now also yurts .. !!
If it were for him I would sew natural organic cotton yurts kilometer zero with vegetable ropes, but the customer, and the pockets .. have the last word 😁
IF YOU WANT TO MEET THE FIRST #YURTA WE DID TOGETHER, HE GUARDS HIM WITH LOVE IN A FOREST OAK FORCE AND RECEIVES AND TAKES CARE OF GROUPS UNDER THIS ROOF.
Isaac, @ atesta.fusteria is the youngest and most energetic of the group. A restless ass, an artist who has turned his sensitivity and perfectionism into wood and everything that can come out of it. If it were for him the yurts would be covered with wood and no cloth, no wool, no wafers. WOOD!!
His profession and his passion. After studying the trade and traveling around Africa with a Djembé on his shoulder, he worked on building wooden houses and stages. Today from the platform to the #tonoo is present in all the heights of the #yurt.
We work in all areas to carry out your project
First of all, we make sure that most of the materials we use are close by, thus reducing the ecological footprint left by their transport. We choose quality material, and as far as possible, that has the least environmental impact during its manufacture. For example, one of our insulators is made from the surplus of the Spanish textile industry, such as the production of jeans. Compared to other conventional insulation, during their production process they have managed to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions by 90%.
In addition, our yurts can be installed on metal pillars that are easy to remove. Thanks to this, during their useful life, they do not have a negative impact on the ground and do not leave a trace when they are removed.
From Yurta.cat, we know the suppliers and the materials we work with, attentive to the news that appeared, trying to improve day by day the manufacture of our product and reducing our CO2 emissions as much as possible.
